Laser Cutting

Overview
High-powered fibre laser system, coupled to a 6-axis Kuka robot and a Precitec laser cutting head. It is capable of cutting metallic materials of up to 25mm thickness and cutting 3D components and pipes. Research is focused on high speed, high quality remote laser cutting of nuclear reactor materials, including pipes for welding preparations. Also investigation of laser cutting of vessels, pipes and concretes for nuclear decommissioning.
