Overview
Also called sand blasting or shot blasting. This technique uses abrasive materials (e.g., sand, alumina, metal shot, etc.) projected onto the surface being treated, and results in uniform removal of surface contamination. Sand blasting uses compressed air, water or some combination to carry the abrasive whereas shot blasting is airless and uses a fast turning throwing wheel to project the material.
