Application of a polymer mixture to a contaminated surface. As the polymer reacts, contaminants are stabilized, becoming entrained in the polymer. Generally, the contaminated layer is pulled off or, in the case of self-strippable coatings, the coating cracks, flakes and falls off, taking loose contamination with it. This contamination can then be vacuumed up.
