Discarding sabot armour piercing round. This has a Sabot, a light metal "holder" with the same diameter as the gun calibre, and a much smaller diameter tungsten Armour Piercing round held within the Sabot. On being fired the Sabot detaches itself from the Armour Piercing round which then travels on to the target
