Draining Paving Stone

Overview
A draining paving stone, based on shell waste, developed by ESIT Caen. In order to reduce the carbon impact, draining pavers consist of shell co-products from Saint-Jacques, local resources in Normandy, initially intended for landfill (the maritime industry puts between 8,000 and 12,000 tonnes of shells at the landfill each year). Currently under development to optimize their draining and cooling effects, eco-paving stones will facilitate the infiltration of rainwater to the plot and therefore fight against flooding but also avoid heat islands.
