Overview
This crane-mounted robotic system allows for conditional monitoring of surfaces through visual inspection and deploying gas sensors above hard-to-reach filter vents. It is designed to deploy a sensor payload in horizontal gaps as high as 80mm. To navigate, it localises itself within an environment using a set of Light Detection and Ranging sensors (LIDARs). By interfacing with existing crane infrastructure, the robot is able to autonomously inspects a matrix of containers in hazardous environments. This represents a significant advancement in the field of compact tool and sensor deployment in constrained spaces.
