The Robotic Fluid Extraction System (RFES) extracts hydraulic fluid from contaminated nuclear waste transfer pumps. This system was developed to address the significant safety risks associated with manual fluid extraction, particularly in environments with high radiation levels. It was designed using a commercially available six-axis robotic arm, the FANUC CRX-20iA/L, which was selected for its optimal size-to-payload ratio and ease of use.
