Cold Crucible Induction Melting

Overview
Cold Crucible Induction Melting (CCIM) is an evolution of the induction melting technology used to vitrify liquid high-level waste. CCIM uses the same induction heating method to melt the glass but has a cooling circuit around the melter to keep it cool. The objective is to prolong the life of the melter and to allow for higher melt temperatures that will enable it to process a wider variety of waste or increase waste loadings.
