Interim Safe Storage (ISS)

Overview
Facility for the storage of nuclear waste that, currently, has no disposal route. This is for waste that is unable to be sent to a near surface disposal facility. "Interim" can mean up to 300 years. The waste is stored in engineered containers that are passively safe and suitably robust physically, so as to ensure containment and safe handling during any future periods of storage.
