A treatment process for contaminated designed to reduce the volume of radioactive concrete waste by more than half. It uses a thermal grinding process that heats concrete waste to soften the hardened cement, then grinds it to effectively separate the aggregate and cement. By disposing only the cement, the volume of radioactive concrete waste can be reduced by more than half and the uncontaminated aggregate can be treated as general waste.
